The Brazilian city of Joao Pessoa is not as famous as its bigger sisters Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. However, the small city rivals even its bigger counterparts when it comes to malls. The largest mall in Joao Pessoa, Manaira Shopping is one of the most glamorous and popular in the country. The man behind the strong venture the successful entrepreneur and native of Joao Pessoa, Roberto Santiago.
A strong Love for his Home city
Roberto Santiago was raised in Joao Pessoa. He went on to study and graduate from the University Center of Joao Pessoa with a degree in business administration. He briefly worked at a décor company but soon after realized that his passion was in entrepreneurship. Owing to the strong love that he felt for his home city, Mr. Santiago decided to set up his first business, Cartonnage in Joao Pessoa. As Cartonnage grew, he began looking for opportunities to diversify his investments and after noticing a gap in the large retail segment decided to develop a shopping complex. Consequently, in 1989, after 24 months of construction, Mr. Santiago opened the doors of Manaira Shopping to members of the public. The mall has been the most popular in the city since.
Amenities at Manaira Shopping
Arguably what makes Manaira Shopping the mall of choice for most in Joao Pessoa is the availability of both entertainment and shopping amenities in great abundance at the mall. With a total area of more than 100 thousand square feet, the mall accommodates dozens of shopping stores. Additionally, it also features a fitness center, banks, an institution of higher learning, a food court, and a number of restaurants. Those who visit the mall solely for entertainment purposes will also not get bored as it has some movie theaters, a bowling alley, and a children gaming area.

The Domus Hall is a large concert hall found on the highest floors of Manaira Shopping. The hall has two different levels with one being reserved for seating cottages while the being used with by standing crowds. Owing to the size of the hall and the quality of services delivered at Manaira Shopping, the Domus Hall has hosted numerous events over the years.
Owing to the success of Manaira Shopping, Roberto Santiago recently decided to add another mall to his long list of investments in Joao Pessoa. The second mall is called Mangeria Shopping and was opened to great public aplomb in 2013.
