The OSI Group is one of America’s most successful private holding companies with worldwide operations mostly in the US, Europe, and Asia. Focusing on food service and retail, their main products include beef patties, bacon, fish, poultry, dough-based and vegetable foods.
Founded in 1909 and headquartered in Aurora, IL., the huge conglomerate pulled over $6 billion in revenue last year and was ranked number 58 by Forbes under Americas Largest Private Companies. The group has more than 65 processing plants in more than 15 countries in the US, North America, Europe and Asia.
The company is on an expansion spree, with two major acquisitions in Europe, expanding their presence and diversifying their offerings to keep up with current trends. Baho Foods, a Dutch food manufacturer covering food service and retail sections have now brought their extensive portfolio of products and native presence with five subsidiaries in Europe serving 18 European countries to the OSI table.
This buyout retains the top executives from Baho Foods who have pledged to work closely with their new partners leveraging on OSI’s massive infrastructure, financial and entrepreneurial passion for accelerating their growth and product offering in Europe.
Flagship Europe is the second such acquisition besides Baho Foods. With their strong position on frozen poultry and great condiments, Flagship promises to utilize the increased resources from OSI to reach new clients and expand their global presence delivering better service and support to their customers.
The third key addition to OSI’s stable is right from their backyard – Tyson Foods from Chicago. Seen more as an infrastructure buyout than a soft capital investment, Tyson Foods facilities offer expanded manufacturing capabilities to add to OSI Group’s stable infrastructure targeting a bigger customer base.
These three additions, all processed within last year portray that the OSI group is consolidating its resources and going for strategic acquisitions, which solidify their position as the best foods and retail services supplier globally.
OSI’s business model is backed by strong positive policies and has won many awards over the years especially in areas such as environmental, health and safety risks management. In 2016, OSI received the Globe of Honor Award from the British Safety Council for the third time.
A prestigious recognition for their integrated approach to environmental protection and accelerated adoption of sustainable health and safety operations in their business. With their dedication to providing outstanding service from concept-to-plate, OSI is projected to become a global household name.
The next time you are at a fast food or a convenience store anywhere in the world, look for excellence, reach out for an OSI product, you will be making a choice to join the world leaders, and you know what, that’s the best choice you will have made for yourself!
